Sigh. It's so clear -- now that it's too late -- that I needed two more paragraphs in that novel. One in this scene and one in that scene, to give a particular aspect of the story a bit of the punch it's lacking.

But it's way too late for that.

Oh well. I have finished the page proofs, listening to my soundtrack all the way, and at the very end text and music lined up perfectly, and I sniffled a bit. If I can still be moved at all by this thing, after having read it so very many times, there's hope for it yet.

Even if it is two paragraphs short.

*sigh* Well maybe you could put them on your Web site when the book is done as a special for your readers.

Incidentally I have a great idea for book release party!! An Elizabethan costume ball!!!

You have to wonder, though, is this an instance where only you "know" it's two paragraphs short? :)

Yes and no. I suspect some readers will feel that a particular aspect of the story is weak; I'm probably the only one who's looking at it and saying, "yes, and I could have fixed that -- at least partially -- with one paragraph here and one there."

Oh, one of those. Yeah, they're tough enough when you find them in a draft. :(
