FREE Clarion workshops!

The Clarion West Writers’ Workshop is taking the extraordinary step of offering free online writing workshops for the next several weeks. (Extraordinary because they’re still paying the instructors, but not charging the students.) I had a splendid time teaching an in-person workshop for them last month, so I’m diving in to do a series of worldbuilding workshops inspired by the New Worlds Patreon. There will be four of them, each independent of the others, meaning that you only need to sign up for the one(s) that interest you. It’ll be first come, first served, with registration opening on Friday, March 27 at 12pm PST. The current list of workshops is here, so if any of them pique your interest, mark your calendars now!

Do you know how interactive these will be? (For me, the less the better, as I recently learned that I process such things as a particularly awful phone call.)

If you mean mine, probably not very? I find it hard to make interaction work well over video calls; when I did the Writing Fight Scenes online course, I had people typing suggested answers to questions (or questions of their own) in the chat window, but that was about it. But I imagine it will vary depending on the workshop.

I'm mostly interested in yours, and of course you can't know what other people are going to arrange. I could deal with a chat window, though.

Also wondering if at my advanced age I should take up space in stuff really intended for writers at a different stage, but we'll see.

According to the email I got this morning, it will be twenty people for most of them.

Ooooh! :D Is there a standard way these will be conducted, e.g. via Zoom, Skype, text chat, some other method? (I'm needing to work around my husband's schedule here, since we have a small house and I shouldn't set up something video-chat based at the same time as he's teaching a class or having a meeting.) I looked around on the website but couldn't find that information.
