In order to hold power, you need some rationale for why you should have it. This week the New Worlds Patreon delves into some of the foundations of power, and some considerations that go along with them. Comment over there!

I'm surprised not to see racial supremacy on there. Are you considering it a grand-scale form of inheritance?

I consider it a different type of thing -- something that puts groups into power, but not individual leaders. It might be a prerequisite for them, but a single person saying "I should be in charge because I'm white" isn't sufficient; that only puts them into the category of possible leaders. Whereas they can say "I should be in charge because I'm the strongest/my daddy was in charge/people want me to be in charge," and that singles them out as an individual as opposed to a member of a favored group.

Obviously those things aren't entirely separable, but to keep these essays to a reasonable size I have to put frames around them somehow. Racism and racial supremacy will likely be grouped with slavery, when that set of topics comes around.
