So these showed up at my house last night . . .

finished copies of Voyage of the Basilisk

The production folks at Tor continue to knock it out of the park: deckled edges, three-piece case (in this instance, lavender and deep violet), even dark blue ink for the text. I think my other novels are starting to get an inferiority complex, sitting on the shelf next to these beauties. :-D

One week to street date — I can’t wait!

and onc the books are admired, I then spend minutes trying to parse out what is on the shelves behind them... sigh...

Heh. It did occur to me that was a distracting backdrop . . . .

I have actually not yet put away my copy of The Tropic of Serpents because it is so gorgeous. The set will be really stunning and probably needs its own small bookcase. (Not that it will get it, because space considerations, but it deserves one.)

I loved the inside, too. You know, the story. 8-)

Hi there. I saw this on the LJ homepage, and thought it relevant that before I even really paid attention to the text I got distracted by the thumbnail image and said, "Ooh, pretty!" Clicking through to the full size image makes me feel an immediate need to own this book and find out what the plot/general concept is later.

Update: although I am going to power through with this comment anyway, I now realize why the cover art looked familiar and I feel slightly chagrined about flailing at a Proper Famous Author. Nevertheless, I'm here, so I'm going to add that I saw book 2 on the display shelf at the library last week, and even though I don't read much fantasy, the concept of this series sounded so fascinating that it went straight on my to-read list. Now I have extra incentive to get started.

This is the kind of comment that makes my publisher's art director (i.e. the woman in charge of Making Covers Happen) punch the air. :-D

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the books!

Lovely!

For some reason, this time around I can only get the paperback in the UK, so I'll no longer have a matching set. :-(

It's because Titan is now publishing on the same schedule as the US, meaning their tpb comes out at the same time (actually a few days earlier) than the US hc. So, alas, UK readers who want the hc will have to import it.
