A Year in Pictures – Gion Faces

These sculptures were displayed along an exterior wall in (I think) Gion, along with an adorable open-mouthed frog to which you were asked to feed 100 yen if you took photos. (Of course I fed the frog.) The faces were kinda creepy, but also kinda cool, especially at night.

I don't think it was Gion as I feel fairly strongly that I was there. Unless it was Gion, and the faces and frogs have been there for over a decade...

It might or might not have been Gion -- though I think it was -- but it's certainly from the Kyoto leg of our most recent trip. So if you saw them, it happened at some other time.

If you say so - the frog also seems familiar as I feel like I was the one who read the sign. Maybe you showed me a picture of it? Maybe I'm just making up memories?

Can I just say that, regartless of content, I get a kick out of those two icons talking back and forth? (I may have read the books at an impressionable age.)

Heh. It isn't an accident; when I got on LJ, kurayami_hime gave me that icon so we could match. :-)
