The ceilings in the Vatican are phenomenal. My pictures of the ceilings in the Vatican, sadly, are mostly not so phenomenal, because I didn’t have a tripod — but this one came out pretty well. And while on the one hand the inequality of wealth that produces things like this is not desirable, I am glad to have the results of it.

This is lovely! It's *hard* to get a good photo of the entirety and to capture the sheer awe one feels at being present - I think you did a good job!

I remember the Vatican from my trip to Europe when I was 15 - which was..mumble mumble twenty something years ago now...and I could have stayed in that one place for hours just looking at the art, and thinking about the sheer effort it took to paint that vast canvas.

There are times when I want a panoramic lens and the ability to lie down on the floor to take my picture. :-D
