A Year in Pictures – Notre Dame at Dusk

This was my first sight of Notre Dame in Paris. The flat where we were staying was only about a five- or ten-minute walk from the cathedral, and so after arriving in the city, we strolled down there to take a look before it got completely dark out. (The light in the upper right is a streetlamp.) In the interests of full disclosure, I should say that my husband is actually the one who took this photo, at my request; I had not realized we were going to wander down there before dinner, so I didn’t have my camera with me.

If you are in Paris now, I'd recommend a visit to Saint Chapelle. It is very close to Notre Dame and, though heavily restored in the 19th century,it is a glorious piece of architecture - especially the stained-glass windows.

Nope, I was there last October -- but we did indeed go to Sainte-Chapelle. I think I've posted an image or two from there already, if you check out the "photography" tag, and there will be more to come!

The flat we stayed at in Paris was about half a block from the Seine across from Notre Dame. I took...many pictures. This one is lovely.

Yeah, being that centrally located was awesome. There will be some nighttime pictures of Notre Dame in this set eventually, because the nearness of the flat (it was across the street from the Pompidou) meant it was easy for us to go wandering for some night photography.
