. . . and it looks like I'll be starting in a Legend of the Five Rings game soon. (RPG, not card.) LARP-wise, it's all been Mind's Eye Theatre, hacks thereof, or the Buffy/Angel tabletop system applied to a live-action game. (You know those little plastic bubbles you get from vending machines, that have toys in them? We scattered a bunch of those around the site, with a d10 in each.)

My experience really isn't that diverse. The problem is, I rarely run games myself, so I'm dependent on what other people are minded to run. And most of my gaming was done in a very White Wolf-leaning town.

I would have to take a *very* long time scouring my brain for all of the games I played. Not unexpected after nearly living in a game store for five years and then working there another five.

If I added in CCGs played, it would be an embarrassingly large list.

Oh dear. I'm old and spent too many "productive gaming years" in non-gaming-conducive environments. My list is a bit more... well, it's a bit more something, but I'm not sure what. Following Our Gracious Hostess's lead, the asterisks mark five or fewer sessions.

My list is a bit longer, but not notably so, and mostly because it involves 6 different editions of D&D, multiple versions of the Old WoD games, multiple versions of Exalted, and some obscure-ish indie stuff, like My Life With Master and like that. And I never played Cinematic Unisystem, so.

We own a crap-ton of the obscure indie-ish stuff, but have never played, uh, any of it.

Actually, do you run games at all? 'Cause it might be fun to do some weekend one-shots of some of the indie stuff. I never did get around to playing Polaris, for example.

I do run games, in fact, and I've been jonesing to do something along those lines for a while here.

That said, pacing things out in order to get some of the indie games to a conclusion in a weekend can be a tad tricky. The My Life With Master game I ran back in Portland foundered after a couple of sessions, for instance (though part of that was the number of people playing).

I feel like games that focus intensely on one character at a time can't really support much more than 3 players unless you fudge things a bit to keep the "inactive" players involved). It's a lot easier to keep things going with systems that encourage everyone to be involved in shared scenes.

We should definitely talk more about this idea on email or in person, though. And it should not be allowed to founder, like the Incan mummy LARP conversation...

The only "major" system I don't see on the list is Champions.

We own it, but I've never played it. But the list is misleading; my GURPs experience consists of a not very large number of sessions after the Aberrant game converted systems, my D&D 2nd ed experience was a brief (and largely mechanics-less) online play-by-message game, and the 3.5 game was really more of a Forgotten Realms game, for which D&D happened to be the system. (We regularly went whole sessions where the only roll anybody made was in the vein of, a Spot check to see if they could catch another PC admiring their ass.)

It's true that I'm mostly interested in gaming as a medium for collaborating storytelling. If it's more about the combat and such, I'd rather play a video game, where the machine does the number-crunching for me, and I get to enjoy the fun visuals.

It's pretty good. I found people were thrown by the odd dice though.

I also left off Unknown Armies, which is probably my favorite game setting after Exalted.
