Another of my favorite Diana Wynne Jones books: Eight Days of Luke. (In case you were wondering, I limit myself to one DWJ recommendation a year; otherwise I could spend an entire year talking about nothing but her.)

I always had a fondness for TALE OF TIME CITY... I spent YEARS looking for it in bookstores and conventions until I finally ran across a copy at one con. This was, of course, before they started reprinting her stuff properly in the US. :>

That one will be appearing in some future year of recommendations, never fear. :-) I've rarely read a DWJ book I didn't like.

Is it possibly more warped than Sakura Kinoshita's "The Mythical Detective Loki" comics?

Hmm... it just may be. I will put this on my list of books to look for. Thanks!

From what little I know of those comics, I don't know that I would call this more warped, but I find it delightful.

They are both warped, just in very different ways.

Eight Days of Luke is definitely the reason I grabbed 魔探偵ロキ off the shelf. Loki isn't bad! He's just misunderstood.

As most tricksters are. ^_^

Glad to know there are others out there who don't get a glazed over look when someone mentions Sakura Kinoshita's take on Norse gods.
