Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre. Ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Flying Dogs. Or at least dogs in midair, generally looking goofy.

Ten books that could be booted from the literary canon. As evaluated by someone who, from the sound of it, is actually a fan of literary fiction. I must say, the quoted bits make me agree with their evaluation.

I agree with his comments about Two Cities...for another author a good book, but it doesn't hold a candle to the others.

I agree with everything but 100 Years which to me reads like a prose poem history of South America. Utterly beguiling and poignant, because it shows the paradigm from the inside out.

Thanks for the list! I'm so glad there's someone else out there who didn't fall in love with THE ROAD. I was bored by it. I also couldn't make myself finish ON THE ROAD (hmm, coincidence?) by Jack Kerouac. However, I enjoyed A TALE OF TWO CITIES when I read it. Then again, I was 14? 15? I'm not sure how it'd hold up today. :)

Oh wow. I wasn't at all sure of sharing his taste, as I liked some of the quotes and thought the reviews in general sounded sorta hatchet-jobby (yeah, I know, trying to be funny, and hatchet jobs are easier to make funny, at least if you agree w/them), and then got to On The Road, which is on my "all time favorite must reads" list, and quit reading the rest except to see if I'd read any of them. And the one I had I liked, but I liked all Dickens I read, and as Calico Reaction said, I read it in h.s. so who knows what I'd think now.
