Fringe update

1. Peter got to be useful and showed signs of character development.
   
2. And the preview for next week promises even more.
   
3. Maybe even something other than a random piece of the so-called Pattern!
   

Dude, it's like Christmas on Fringe.

(Though did anybody else say "saw that coming" when the thing with Walter happened?)

Man, the second he walked back in there I thought, you're not getting him out again. Not easily, anyway. I suppose they did, but yeah, there's a distinct promise (one they'll hopefully deliver on) that this will have repercussions beyond that episode.

I mean, if I were the bad guys, I'd want Walter out of commission. And that's a convenient way to do it.

Not that this has anything to do with last night's episode but, I did start watching the show again. Upon rewatching the pilot it didn't bother me nearly as much as it did the first time. I dunno maybe I was just in a weird mood when I initially saw it. Watched the second episode too, I also liked it. I will admit to looking forward to seeing the rest of the episodes.

I must admit I was very surprised when at the beginning of the second episode it showed the meeting of pattern/conspiracy people, and right off the bat you saw Dunham's boss (who's name I still can't remember), and fake arm Massive Dynamics lady. Pretty much establishing straight out, "Yep they know each other, deal with that." Granted I don't really know much about that group from that brief appearance but, it seems like that's the kind of thing they could have easily eluded to but not actually revealed for several episodes. That almost makes me even more curious as to where they're going with that.

Huh -- I'd totally forgotten that scene.

Forgotten it firmly enough that I can't remember whether that was a "hey, here are your bad guys!" scene or just a "hey, these two are in communication about Pattern stuff" scene. That Broyles talks to Fake Arm Lady, I've seen in other eps.

I really liked last night's episode. The show's had me ambivalent until last night, where I think we finally got to see the emotional core of the show. The threat against Walter's and even Peter's future is a threat that's worth investing in, you know?

And no, I didn't. I should have, but I didn't. I realized after the show was over that that's what the director was trying to do to Walter all along by allowing Walter to "talk" to Dash.

But does anyone else smell conspiracy in that loony bin? I sure do. They're intentionally repressing people's genius.

The asylum reeks of conspiracy. If the shrink isn't in on it, he's the puppet of those who are. In fact, I was almost wondering whether they had engineered the whole situation specifically to lure Walter into talking to Dash, just so they could try to pry him out of Dunham's hands.

I very much liked, though, when Walter asked whether he got a vote as to what he should do. It's among the best lucid moments he's had.

I really like this show when I watch it, but then later I wonder. So far the wondering doesn't keep me away. Walter is really my favorite character and I think Peter was right about his sanity. Yeah, I saw the bit about him going back in, but not the other Walter. Now I really want to understand the other Walter bit. It also makes me want to know what else they did to the poor man and how he manage to come out merely forgetful and eccentric and not truly mad.

I suspect we will get more exploration of his insanity, and the causes behind it. (Since it seems pretty apparent that some or all of it was deliberately imposed.)
