Dammit. I think the line which was a seventeenth-century translation of "blowing up a busload of orphans" has to be cut from the novel. The conversation it was in has been changed by the decision not to kill a particular character, and there just isn't anywhere else it belongs.

Sadness.

ETA: actually, maybe not. Certain aspects of the conversation have to happen, I think. Let's see what we can manage.

I can see a number of occasions where the 17th century equivalent of blowing up a busload of orphans would fit, even without a previous demise. Such as when discussing an action that would be the 17th century equivalent of blowing up a busload of orphans whether or not the death occurred. Some things are just inappropriate whether or not something else happened.

This comment has nothing to do with your post, however...I will gladly say that I, finally, have been near a real</> bookstore and purchased Midnight Never Come. After finding it, I went on a hunt to find the reprints of Warrior and Witch, but sadly, no luck there. I may just have to buy them online.

:D

Odd that you wouldn't find those; they're out much more recently, and still selling very strongly.

Maybe the store was temporarily out of stock? I can hope so, at least. :-)

That's what I was thinking as well. So, I'm assuming they were out of stock. Also...the bookstore, Borders, was in the mall and is much smaller than the actual store. I'll have to try that one sometime before I leave the city-zone of Southern California. :p
