Robert Jordan's dead.

As they said on Making Light, where I read the announcement, now isn't the time to hash out what you think about his books, good or bad.

But I can't help but wonder what they're going to do about them.

On his blog, his brother/cousin* said that Jordan had told him and Jordan's wife the plot/story of the rest of the twelfth book. I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish it, or hire someone who could.

*"Brother/cousin" is how the guy self-describes; no idea who he is or what exactly he means.

What happens will be up to his estate. Whether there's a two-sentence synopsis or an almost-complete draft out there, the probability of its publication remains unchanged; it will depend on the estate, and the instructions he left behind.

As far as I can tell, Wilson was James Rigney's (RJ) biological cousin, but was close enough to the family that RJ considered him a brother. He also calls himself 4th of 3, because RJ had 2 biological brothers.

According to wikipedia at least, RJ inteded to get his notes out, so that someone else can finish it. I am not sure how trustworth the source is though.

Supposedly, and I have this second-hand, an acquaintance asked Jordan about this and was told that the last book is written, and whenever he (Jordan) writes the next one, he updates the last book, and when he dies, the last book will be published.

I don't know if Jordan was serious, or if it was true at the time and has ceased to be so. Just passing on as I was told it.

I've heard a lot of different things about what will happen with the last book. I imagine we'll find out before the end of the week.

I can't believe I'm still crying. :)

That's really sad. However I feel about his books, he was a giant and brought a lot of new readers (and writers) to fantasy. And according to GRRM, he was a good guy too. That's really a shame.
