...And there we have a version of the Wheel of Time that I would have kept reading. As it was, by the time I was five or six books in, I had no confidence that he would actually finish, and then when Sanderson finished it for him, too much time had elapsed since I was current on the plot so I never got around to picking it up again. Never say never, I guess, but there's a lot out there I'd rather put my energy into at this point, where thousands and thousands of pages are concerned.
(From this you might guess that I've stopped reading the Martin series too. On the other hand, I'm content to keep reading the Dragaera books, because Brust is writing each to be entertaining on its own, even though there does seem to be a planned, overarching storyline.)
