How does one go about shifting a piece of music from a minor key to a major one? (Assume, for the purposes of this discussion, that I'm just looking to transpose a simple melodic line. No chords or anything to worry about.)

Date: 2013-11-09 11:27 pm (UTC)For something in other majors, you do the equivalent -- things that are two whole steps below the base note, one whole step below it, and two whole steps above it get moved down a half-step.

Date: 2013-11-10 01:12 am (UTC)(The so-called melodic minor scale specifically uses A and B natural when the melody is going up the scale and A-flat and B-flat when the melody is going down; but you have more flexibility than that.)
