Total strangers are welcome, especially when they have nifty info like this!
I hadn't heard of Andreth, but that sounds like a good read on why Tolkien didn't pattern relationships in the other direction.
I certainly don't think he was
trying
to map onto this pattern -- Elizabethan or otherwise -- but it does seem that he reproduced it quite a bit.
