Yeah, if they got inserted after the fact -- or even if this was Rothfuss making a conscious effort as he went along to put women on the page -- it's not much of a success. Fundamentally, he's telling a story that has room for only one important woman in it, and that woman's importance is mostly contained in her beauty.

I don't go that far . . . but I have been known to choose the gender of minor characters based on what will make the scene grammatically easiest to parse. :-)
