Funny how shoehorning women into a narrative that makes no room for them results in not creating any meaningful change, isn't it?

What this needs is a re-visioning of the world. I really like the lens of 'is there a good reason for this character to be male?' for questioning the male default. I'm not quite at the point where I use a random table for characters, but maybe I should. Turn it into _work_ to show them as straight able-bodied males and default to show them as a reflection of society.
