For me, it's how I get into the zone. It has to be a specific type of game. At one point I even had a learned article explaining the mechanism, but that is lost in the mist of time. Most of my writing is moving blocks about while I work out a sentence, writing it down, going back. Once I'm in the flow, it's easier to stay there, but staring at writing without inspiration just leads my brain to wander off.
